Sunday night is often pizza night at my house. Recently, I switched to ordering online (Papa John’s) and was pleased with the simplicity and convenience both on-screen and at the door upon delivery. Apparently, this is a growing trend and one the pizza industry is pleased about. According to Pizza Marketing Quarterly (who knew?), the average online pizza order is $6 to $9 higher than the average phone order.

The magazine thinks it’s because online customers have a more leisurely experience than ordering by phone. Buyers also have access to the entire menu and can order without feeling rushed. I can personally vouch for that. There is a great deal more temptation to choose a few add-ons (chicken fingers, drinks, wings, etc.) when the option is just a simple click away. Monday night is now left-over-pizza night.
