I haven’t posted for a while and since I am both a beliver and regular reader of blogs I decided I better get with it. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot to say, but that rarely stops me from saying things. So I came up with three items I felt like sharing.

First, the cover of this week’s Newsweek. The picture is of Sarah Palin, with a shotgun slung over her shoulder. Don’t worry, that’s not the clever part. It’s the headline, which reads Palin-tol-ogy. I thought that was pretty good.

Secondly, anyone who knows me knows that I find no joke too cheap, easy or juvenile. That, of course, makes me a fan of the show “Two and a half Men.” The show itself is funny and the creator, Chuck Lorre, has to be the reason why. (OK..the cast gets a lot of credit, too, but they’re great because of both talent and great material) At the end of each show Lorre puts up a vanity card with a message. I started freezing the frame and reading them and they are hilarious. They can be found on line (what can’t?) at www.chucklorre.com, but they are far funnier read at the end of the show. An example of one I liked:

I was recently interviewed by a tabloid reporter who was writing a story based on information he was given by “informed sources”. He told me that he knew the information was false. When I asked why he’d bother to continue with the story, he said, “Well, I have informed sources.” I said, “Yes, but you know that those informed sources are, at best, misinformed, or, at worst, lying.” To which he replied, “That’s why your comments are good for the story. They give it balance.” Need I say more?

Finally, I was reading a story this morning about a feud between Alec Baldwin and Greg Garcia, the creater of “My Name is Earl.” Admittedly, aside from the two of them, who cares?  But it got me thinking…could we pass some sort of law that anytime rich and famous people get into a mindless public squabble that both are required to give enough money to Habitat for Humanity to build a house. That way instead of just getting irritated with these people we could feel like at least it meant something positive for a family somewhere.

OK…everybody back to work.
