My brother Mark just sent me a birthday gift. All of you should feel free to do the same…but that’s not the point of my post.
He sent me one of those BBQ grilling digital forks. Stick it in the meat and you know almost instantly if it is rare, medium or well done. Or, in the case of poultry and such, if it’s safe to eat. Great gift, and much apprecited. I had one before but the digital part seems to resent being submerged in water and even with new batteries felt everything was constantly 66 degrees.
But I digress. The point is this: the fork is about 17 inches long. Packaged it is 5 inches wide, maybe an inch high. But the people who shipped it (I won’t name them beyond saying it is an online company that shares a name with a South American river) put it in a box that was 8 inches high, almost 19 inches wide and 8 inches deep. You couldĀ have packed 3 dozen of the forks in there and still had room left.
I don’t get it. It’s a smart company. I do business with it myself. But why the big boxes? If someone knows, please fill me in.
OK…everybody back to work.
