As the holiday weekend approaches, my husband and I have begun chuckling , wondering “in which” local emergency room we may find ourselves.

For the past three years, either his job as a small animal veterinarian (read into this: BAD dog and cat bites) or our roles as aunt and uncle to watersports-loving nieces and nephews,  have placed us at various local ERs on July 4. This year, we’re determined to skip the ER, and I was delighted to hear that Ackermann’s client East Tennessee Medical Group (ETMG) (www.etmg.net) is publicizing their “cure” for the ER blues.

For ailments like minor burns, sprains and reactions from some insect stings, walk-in clinics like ETMG’s CareToday Clinic, 266 Joule Street, Alcoa, are a “softer, gentler”  alternative to the craziness of local emergency rooms.

ETMG’s CareToday Clinic is open weekdays, evenings, weekends and most holidays…(and most important to Steve and me, on July 4).

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the  dreaded “Fourth of July Curse” discontinues its reign over the Skinner household!
